3 Tips to Being Successful in Esthetics School

As I finished up my fourth semester of esthetics school, I can finally admit that while I can say I loved it, there definitely was a bit of a learning curve, especially for someone who just finished a more academic program (English degree). I had to learn the hard way exactly how to navigate my way through the semester to make sure I didn’t fail lol. To save you the stress of figuring it out, here are my top three tips for helping you succeed:

1.     Practice, Practice, Practice!

One of the biggest learning curves for me is realizing that I had to make time to practice all the steps I had learned in class as well as all the theory bits. The actual hands-on part of the program is just as important if not more important than the theory parts. Not only do you have written exams, but practical ones too! It is super important when taking time to study, you also take the time to do some hands-on practicing as well. This will not only help you ace your practical exams but also make you a better esthetician overall. I mean come on, what kind of esthetician doesn’t know the steps in their facials lol!

2.    Making a friend or two

Having friends will literally make the time fly by! It doesn’t have to be the entire class but making a friend or two will definitely help to make your whole experience a lot more fun. I definitely don’t feel as though I would’ve been able to get through the semester without the help of my friends. Plus, making a couple of friends will also help you out when it comes to practice as you could potentially practice on each other outside of class. It’s nice having someone that knows what you should be doing so that if you make a mistake they can catch it and help you improve.

3.    Plan Your Time Out

School can be very overwhelming, even if you like it. Between, going to classes, practicing, and studying (and working if you do that), it can all get a little too much. It’s important to stay organized to help you feel less stressed. Use a planner or google calendar to plan out class times and study times. You can even use it to plan out your self-care time so that you know you’re always getting things done and taking care of yourself.

These aren’t the only tips to keep you successful, but these will definitely help in the long run!
